Yorkshire is a Historic state of England, covering an area of 14,414sq miles,

Our congregation was formed in Hull, East Yorkshire on April 2005 in the name of St.George, the patron saint of England .(Saint George was Born to a Christian noble family in Lod, Syria Palaestina during the late 3rd century. Saint George is one of the most venerated saint in the Oriental Orthodox, Catholic and Anglican Churches.) The congregation was blessed by Late. H.G Philipose Mar Eusebious (Thumpamon Diocese) with the Celebration of Holy Qurbana. Thereafter, monthly services were held under the Leadership of Rev.Fr.Happy Jacob. Due to special circumstance the congregation was replanted to Sheffield on July 2006 to meet the requirements of Indian orthodox community residing in and around Sheffield and whole Yorkshire areas. In Dec 2006 Late H.G.Dr.Thomas Mar Makarios (Diocesan Metropolitan) paid his holy visit to the Congregation and blessed us with valuable advises to upgrade the congregation as a parish. In the absence of Fr. Happy Jacob, Rev. Fr. Varghese John commenced the celebration of Holy Qurbana from 2007 onwards.

On July 2009 our newly appointed Diocesan Metropolitan H.G.Dr.Mathews Mar Thimothious visited the Sheffield congregation, as per the request of our community Thirumeni officially declared the congregation as a parish, and appointed Fr. Varghese John as the Vicar and President of the church. The General assembly of the parish elects office bearers every year as per the constitution of Malankara Orthodox Church. The office bearers include Trustee, Secretary and Managing committee members. Our parish celebrates Holy Liturgy Sundays once in a month and on special feast days. We have all the spiritual Organisations under the jurisdiction of the Malanakara Orthodox Church. Our Parish is maintaining a sound ecumenical relationship with her sister churches in Sheffield.
